Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi, my name is Amanda Nicole Gamble. I am currently a second year law student at Oklahoma City University School of Law. Aside from running I love to volunteer, read, and enjoy time with my loved ones. I also am blessed with an adorable italian greyhound that makes a great little running partner.
When did you start running?
As a child I always wanted to be faster than my dad, which sparked a lifetime of healthy competition and my love for running. I started officially running in High School on the Choctaw track team. Since High School I have ran in numerous 5 and 10k’s and one half marathon. After law school I would like my first full marathon to take place in the race that is hosted by Disney World.
What was your most memorable race?
My most memorable race was my first half marathon. I ran with a sorority sister and in support of the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial Foundation. On race day the conditions were far from ideal. However, I will never forget the sense of accomplishment when I crossed that finish line.
What training plan are you using?
I use the Hal Higdon half marathon training plan. I used this plan for my first half and plan to use it again for this race’s training.
What else is going on in your life at the moment?
Beyond training for the Austin half, I am a second-year law student, a paralegal for a family law firm, and a mentor to a child in foster care. I also volunteer monthly with various organizations. Life is too short to waste any of our precious moments.
